Former Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele is set to make a big move to Queens Park Rangers for £2.5 million. The Hoops will not receive any sell-on percentage as Dembele left the club when his contract ended. After becoming a free agent, Dembele signed a four-year deal with French Ligue 1 team Brest in July 2022. However, he spent the previous season on loan at Blackpool in England’s third tier and received positive reviews for his performances.

Chris Davies, who worked closely with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, had hoped to bring Dembele to Birmingham City for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, reports now suggest that the 21-year-old forward is likely to join Queens Park Rangers in London. Derby County was also interested in signing Dembele, who left Celtic after making just one goal in four Premiership appearances. Dembele mentioned that Ange Postecoglou, the Celtic manager, did not appreciate his style of play.

Dembele is currently on his way out at Brest, with Queens Park Rangers expected to be his next destination. Medical tests are reportedly scheduled for this weekend to finalize the transfer. The young player, who has represented both Scotland and England at youth levels, impressed with nine goals during his time at Blackpool, attracting the attention of QPR and other clubs.

Brendan Rodgers was at the helm during Dembele’s initial rise to fame at Celtic back in October 2016. The then 13-year-old made headlines after appearing for the club’s Under-20s team in a match against Hearts. Despite high expectations for the talented youngster, his potential was not fully realized during his time in Glasgow. Now, Dembele is looking to make a fresh start at Queens Park Rangers and continue his development in English football.
